They ate long buns with pink icing:
baby pink, not the garish stuff,
and he wiped it from her mouth as
though they were already sleeping together
(they weren’t)
When she kissed him, it was
like feathers. Candyfloss and
waxy apples.
Cherry tint stained his thumb for three days and
